The Magic of Embroidery

“There’s a magic to embroidery, fragments coming together to create something beautiful”

Nara Niro is a London-based brand created by Noor Al-Rahim that brings together traditional craftsmanship with contemporary yet timeless design. Teaching herself embroidery from the age of 10, she went on to study at the prestigious Ecole Lesage in Paris, which has trained some of the finest haute couture makers in the world.

Noor draws her visual references from history, film and the arts, and with a background in studying Japanese film, we can see beautiful takes on the Ukiyo-e style and Japanese mid-century prints, seen here for the first time through the lens of embroidery. Growing up among strong independent women, Meiko Kaji has naturally become a muse for Noor, embodying both strength and vulnerability, a duality that is truly felt in Noor’s designs.

Sustainability is considered in every step of the making process, with the evening bags being true standouts made fully from leftover fabric. Noor creates investment pieces, versatile clothes that are made to last.

The time it takes to make just one piece encapsulates the energy and love that has been put into the handmade process. Everything about Nara Niro is truly unique, the sensuality of the designs combined with a craftsmanship that is rarely seen in fashion today, have resulted in some of the most distinctive designs you can find.
